This is a fantastic antique viola made by an unknown German maker in the late 19th Century. 
 
The viola has been in our workshops near Manchester where it has been professionally set up to the highest standards.
 
The varnish is a warm orange brown colour which makes the flaming of the maple on the two piece back really stand out.  The sound is very confident, clear, warm and very resonant.

Length of back 384 mm.
Upper bouts 184 mm.
Middle 120 mm.
Lower bouts 226 mm.
