York Violins was first established in 2012 when Adam was reading Chemistry at the University of York (although he spent most of his time in the music department!). He would spend the holidays learning about and examining the 40+ year old instrument collection of his Father and Grandfather, Ian and Robert, while occasionally supplying violins to his friends in various York based ensembles and to the wider public.
Upon completing his degree the business grew to serve the whole country and even overseas, and so UK Violins was born.
Today we maintain very close links with the City of York and the surrounding areas. Despite our headquarters being in Lancashire, we regularly travel to York, usually on a weekly basis to see clients on a by-appointment basis. We are available for home visits where customers can try an instrument in the comfort of their own home, in their own time, and are of course welcome to trial instruments for a few days at their leisure.
We can also advise on restorations, valuations, expertise, set ups and all other enquiries requiring a face to face meeting by appointment.
To set up a meeting and to find out when we are next in the York area please get in touch by contacting us.
