A wonderful cello made by a well known and well respected self taught local luthier, Randy Foster.  Made in Chorley in 1979, this cello was Randy's first and only cello and is a triumph of English making at this time.

This handsome cello was made from particularly striking flamed pine displaying the rare bearclaw or hazelfitche effect.  The Welsh maple back is evenly flamed and beautifully arched.  The varnish is a rich amber yellow colour of Randy’s own recipe.  The hand made, hand stained purfling is neatly inlaid.  The cello is loosely based on a Stradivarian model favoured by Randy and used for most of the instruments known to us.  It has a rich, sonorous tone with clear and bright overtones.  One which will certainly improve with age.  The condition is excellent with no splits or cracks and is as new.

The length of back is 761 mm.
